With a growing number of people working from home and using their phones and other devices to regularly browse the internet, could advertising fraud be on the rise?
Adjust, the mobile marketing firm, recently sought to answer this question and analysed fraudulent activity since the start of 2020.
The company found that fraudulent installs had jumped 16% month-on-month during the first quarter of 2020.
According to the data, activity peaked three-fold at an average 36% above February’s.
“This increase in activity spells trouble for fraudsters already operating beneath the law, beyond the health implications of working in close quarters. That said, this increase may also reveal that many fraudsters are in fact always working from home,” the report said.
