In its latest earnings call, Facebook revealed that it has reached a new milestone with 500 million people using its Stories feature every day.
That’s a significant increase from back in September 2018 when 300 million were using Facebook Stories.
The parent of Instagram and WhatsApp both of which also incorporate Stories features said that it marked the first time that Facebook Stories usage was equalling that across its other apps.
At the same time, COO Sheryl Sandberg said that three million advertisers were now using the Stories format across Facebook.
Earlier this year, Nanigans found that advertisers had doubled (124%) their spending on Facebook Stories ads in Q4 2018 compared to the previous year.
However, at this point, it’s unclear how successful or lucrative Stories ads are.
The usage milestone shows that Stories may be a more engaging tool among users than previously thought. Given that both WhatsApp and Instagram already incorporate Stories, it made sense for Facebook to launch it across its main app.
