Facebook has launched its own payment app feature called Facebook Pay. The addition will make it easier to pay for goods via Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.
According to a blog post, Facebook Pay allows users to:
- Choose their preferred payment method. This should simplify the processing of having to re-enter payment information each time you make a purchase.
- Users can choose not to set up Pay for every Facebook-affiliated app separately.
- Once up and running, users can view payment information, manage payment methods and update their settings.
- Facebook also provides customer support via chat.
Facebook Pay is initially being launched in the US this week. It will only be available for fundraisers, in-game purchases, event tickets and for paying other people on Messenger.
Over time, the network will extend these options to more retailers and users worldwide can use the payment service.
If you’re still wondering how to add Facebook Pay, the feature can be found in the “Settings” tab. Simply add your preferred payment method and you’re ready to send money around.
Facebook said that it supported credit and debit cards, PayPal and Stripe. Security features include setting a pin, using device biometrics and adding face or touch ID.
To date, the social network has processed more than $2 billion in donations.
