Facebook, this week, finally launched Avatars in the US. The Snapchat Bitmoji competitor was first introduced in 2019 across Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Given the positive feedback, the social network has now extended the customisable lookalike stickers to the US.
The stickers are digital versions of the social network users themselves and can be fully customised to include their hairstyles and outfit choices.
Avatars are accessed from the emoji selection menu. Users are then prompted to “Make Your Avatar” and can be accessed via “Avatars” once created.
They can be used in comments, posts, Messenger messages and on Facebook Gaming profiles.
Though there’s not much data available from Facebook in regards to the success of its Avatars, Snapchat revealed that 70% of its daily active users (around 147 million) had created Bitmojis of themselves.
