During the International Broadcasting Convention, Facebook announced a broad range of updates for video creators and publishers.
Specifically, the company has rolled out new features for its Live API, Creator Studios and Watch Parties.
Live Video – Via Live API, creators will be able to access a “rehearsal” feature that lets them broadcast live to Page admins and editors. It’s a tool that essentially allows them to test their formats before launching them to a wider audience. Publishers will also be able to use apps that let them stream more than on streaming service as part of the Live API update.
Watch Party – Updates to Watch Party now let Pages schedule a party in advance to build hype, support “replays” for those who missed a video and tag partners for branded content. Facebook has also buffered up its analytic tools.
Creator Studio – Facebook added a new dashboard that includes a visualisation layer for Loyalty Insights. Creators will be able to monitor which types of videos fans like the most by measuring return views. The new distribution metric scores video performance based on Page’s historic average.
“We’re focused on creating video experiences that put people at the center, and we’re committed to building ways for publishers and creators to grow, understand their audiences and build deeper connections with their communities through video. The features we’re announcing today were built based on feedback from our community of video creators and publishers.”
In addition, the company announced that creators can now publish and schedule the Instagram feed and IGTV – Instagram’s long-form video app. Page admins can schedule content for up to six months in advance using Creator Studio.
Creator Studio is also expanding the languages it supports by another 13. The upgrade will allow marketers to tune their efforts and offer more ways to connect with users and insights.
