Disney’s very own streaming service hasn’t even launched but it has apparently already attracted one million subscribers.
Disney Plus is set to launch by mid-November 2019. According to data from Jumpshot, the platform may already have attracted considerable interest from viewers.
Jumpshot tracked site visits to the sign-up page and monitored how many users signed up for the trial.
The research also found that 31% of Disney subscribers stream on other platforms such as Amazon and Hulu.
The numbers are purely based on US estimates. An international roll-out could see subscriber numbers skyrocketing even higher.
It’s Disney’s first foray into the world of streaming and the company is up against some heavy competition like Netflix, Amazon, and HBO.
Some experts are also worried that the initial boost in subscribers may not last. Right now, Disney is offering a 7-day free trial. How many users will continue to use the service thereafter remains to be seen.
If a recent HarrisX poll is to be believed, 21% of American households plan to sign up.
