Moshi, the mindfulness app created for children, has just closed a $12 million Series B funding round led by Accel.
Participating investors included Latitude Ventures and Triplepoint Capital.
Julia Hawkins of Latitude Ventures will join the Moshi board as part of the deal.
Moshi plans to use the funds to launch new features and design new content with the help of sleep experts.
The app was launched in 2017 by Michael Acton Smith and is based on the Mind Candy app created in 2015.
Moshi’s aim is to help children fall asleep by featuring bedtime stories and other soothing content. Stories are typically 30 minutes long and include song and narration.
Parents can create their own playlist or choose curated options.
Narrators include celebrities like Goldie Hawn and Sir Patrick Stewart, among others.
In addition, Moshi features mindfulness content to help ease anxiety during the day.
Six content pieces are free and subscriptions cost $40 per year.
To date, the app has attracted 100,000 subscribers and its stories have played 85 million times.
