Instagram may change the regulations around recorded video length in its app, according to a new report. The Wall Street Journal states Instagram may extend the maximum possible length of videos posted to the app to 60 minutes.
Currently, depending in which section videos are published, the length varies between 15 seconds and up to 60 seconds. Videos lasting up to an hour would see Instagram challenge established video platforms like YouTube.
However, Instagram shows videos in a vertical format, rather than horizontal — primarily — like YouTube. It’s unlikely it will alter this for the extended running time feature, due to it not fitting in with the app’s design.
The feature is not final either, and may not end up being approved for public launch.
