YouTube Red is becoming YouTube Premium, and will launch in new markets in the near future. Google launched YouTube Red in 2015, giving subscribers an ad-free experience and access to original content.

YouTube Premium also includes ad-free playback and downloads, access to original series and movies, along with background listening. It also sees the introduction of YouTube Music, which will come in the form of a new app and desktop player, which offers the same features as Premium.

Existing YouTube Red subscribers will automatically become YouTube Premium members, with the changeover happening in the U.S., Mexico, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand soon. YouTube Premium and YouTube Music together will cost $12 per month, or $10 per month only for Music Premium.

Google will launch the new service in a selection of new countries soon. These include the United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Italy, and Ireland.
