Twitter has added a data saver option to its main mobile app, adding one of the main features that attract users to the Twitter Lite app, and helping minimise data usage when browsing the social network.
Aside from Twitter Lite, Twitter already has data saving features on its mobile website, and its Twitter for Windows app. Now, the Android and iOS apps have a data saver option under the Data Usage setting, which turns off autoplay videos and drops the quality of images displayed in the feed.
The Twitter Lite app remains relevant by being smaller in size, and lowering overall data use rather than in specific areas. This makes it more suitable for basic smartphones, and users in regions where data is expensive.
