Mobile game developers with an awesome app concept could be in with a chance of winning new investment at the forthcoming MGF Asia event, where the first Venture Den pitching session will run.
Invited studios will have just five minutes to impress a panel of industry luminaries with their game — a daunting effort, but get it right and it’ll be worth it, because the investment fund contains a total of $131m.
The Venture Den is described as a, “no-nonsense pitching session,” and to just add that little bit more pressure, it’ll take place in front of a live audience. Only the best studios will be up on stage, presenting their apps with a view to securing new investment, or striking up a new partnership.
The first Venture Den game pitch session will be held at MGF Asia
Sitting on the panel waiting to be impressed will be representatives from Playlab, Perfect World, Animoca Brands, 8 Elements, Linekong, Firestartr, Net Ease, Qeon Initiative, Rolocule Games, and Aid Partners. Additionally, Shelley LK, managing partner at IPC Ventures will be judging, and also on the look out for possible entries into Gaming Top Talent, another important industry competition with a $1m prize.

“Asia has been one of the highest growing markets in mobile gaming history. Yet it’s also a highly fragmented market and there is a lot of ‘noise’ in the talent pool. MGF is one of the premium industry events, drawing together the top, senior and serious professionals in the mobile gaming space, including locals from the region and also international expats. There are great synergies between ‘The Venture Den’ taking place at MGF Asia and our global online initiative Gaming Top Talent, and we are excited to have a close collaboration this year and to shape up the industry together.”
To be in with a chance of presenting your game in The Venture Den, you’ll first need to register to attend MGF Asia, which takes place on April 12 and April 13 at the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong. Then send a short introduction explaining why you should be the one pitching for new investment. All the details can be found on the MGF Asia website here, and the closing date is April 1, so don’t wait too long.
