App accelerator company Neumob has published research into the amount of apps the average U.S. smartphone user keeps installed on their device, and revealed that regardless of age group, the number is between six and 15 apps.

Based on more than 1,000 app users and conducted in April 2017, the data covers users aged between 18 and 64. Isolating the 18 to 24 year old group, 40% had the average six to 15 apps on their phones, while 27% had 16 to 25, and 13% had between zero and five apps installed.

While a percentage did have more than 25 apps installed, just 10% had 26 to 35 apps, 5% 36 to 45 apps, and 5% with more than 46 apps.

Neumob CEO Jeff Kim said:

“[The data] underscores just how important it is to provide app users with a consistently fast and error-free experience. Brands really have one chance to make a great first impression if they’re truly serious about being one of the downloaded apps that users keep active on their devices.”
