Game developer PlayStudios has acquired Scene53, a game studio based in Israel, for an undisclosed sum. The deal comes after Scene53 and PlayStudios worked together to release a casino game named Pop! Slots.

Following the acquisition, Scene53 will be renamed PlayStudios Israel, and shift its focus to growing the Pop! Slots app, along with working on additional new titles in the free-to-play casino category.

PlayStudios CEO Andrew Pascal said:

“Scene53 built an incredible platform for running multi-player, real-time games and hosting virtual events in a 3D setting. They used this technology to create some very promising online experiences. We quickly saw their company’s potential and believed that together we could build something really great.”

Yonatan Maor, Scene53’s CEO, added:

“We are big fans of PLAYSTUDIOS. Their games are beautiful and fun to play. They have extensive knowledge of the casino industry and they possess a very unique set of assets – their real world rewards platform and their exclusive rights to the biggest and best resorts in Las Vegas, such as Bellagio, Aria, and Mandalay Bay.”

Pop! Slots lets players visit virtual versions of famous Las Vegas casinos, and the first version of the app includes the Excalibur, the MGM Grand, and the Mirage. Learn more about PlayStudios by visiting its website here.
