The peer-to-peer marketplace is booming and has fast become a multi-billion dollar industry. Leading the pack in this competitive new category are companies like Uber, AirBnb, Etsy, ZipCar and DogVacay that have instantly changed the way we do business.

With a lucrative $12B moving industry, the latest startup to join the party is Pikkup, an on-demand, affordable, hauling and delivery service.

Launched in June 2015, Sam Baumgarten, CEO for Pikkup recognized the need for a peer-to-peer service that would make moving a more hassle free experience.

Available only in Los Angeles, the California-based company who mostly employ first responders and veterans have found that customers, who love Uber and Lyft, also like using the Pikkup service.

The revolutionary new service has earned a 5.0-star rating on Yelp and a 4.0-star rating on iTunes. One happy customer wrote: “Saved my life! The second time I used the app, it’s Uber for your furniture! Super convenient, courteous and professional service… A permanent app on my iPhone! They literally move your furniture within minutes of you putting in the request. Try it!”

How does the moving service work? First, the user must download the Pikkup app from the iTunes store. Afterward, the user selects the crew size they require for the moving job.

Next, the user takes photos of what items they would like to move and schedule a time and date for pick up.

If the user’s request is not immediately accepted, Pikkup will continue to circulate between available drivers until the job is accepted. In addition, users can schedule a future time or date for the moving request.

All drivers for Pikkup must pass a rigid background check before they are hired and all vehicles must pass a safety inspection test. Each driver is insured for up to $1 million dollars per incident and after the service is completed, customers and drivers can rate the overall moving experience.

The Pikkup app includes an in-app camera feature to help match the load size and choose the best driver for the job. Added features include a live GPS feed that providers users with ETAs of pick up and delivery.
