OpenGDPR initiative launches to make GDPR compliance easier for brands


Mobile and digital advertising, tech and engagement platforms, mParticle, AppsFlyer, Braze (formerly Appboy), and Amplitude, have come together to form the OpenGDPR – a framework for complying with GDPR mandated data subject rights.
The (GDPR) reigns in brand control over user data to ensure enhanced privacy, access, and erasure within one month.
Non-compliant parties face fines. The scale of the ruling is not clear, but companies could see millions of requests which would require them to take action across various systems that process and store personal data.
The new framework comprises of a public API as well as recommended best practices to implement and maintain a connected and compliant stack.

The group says that the OpenGDPR adoption by brands ensures that they can address data subject requests across partner ecosystems more reliably.
At the same time it provides the tools to make data subject request management a more manageable and efficient task for brands. For tech companies, the OpenGDPR ensures that requests are dealt with minimal custom development efforts.
