Facebook has been eyeing the mobile gaming market for quite some time, but now the company wants to officially launch a gaming-related hub. To rival the likes of Twitch and YouTube, the social media network will be setting up a dedicated tab that takes users directly to the gaming hub in its main app.

Features include live streams from gamers, but also eSports providers and game publishers. At the same time, users can play Facebook Instant Games and communicate with dedicate game groups.

According to a company blog post, around 700 million people play games and view gaming videos each month on Facebook.

Facebook added that it was committed to continue to test features of the new gaming hub to ensure it matches user expectations.

To begin with, just a few users will be able to test the gaming hub. Access will then be expanded to a growing number of game enthusiasts.

At the same time, the network announced that it was beta testing a standalone Facebook Gaming app on Android, which includes even more features that those in the hub.
