Mobiquity Networks launches mobile beacon technology for entertainment marketers

Mobiquity Networks, the US-based retail mall mobile ad beacons provider, has rolled out a new solution for movie studios and entertainment companies to engage their fans via mobile. By linking digital screens to offline activity, the Mobiquity Entertainment Network uses location data through beacon technology to encourage movie fans to engage with their apps.

The solution has been designed specifically for the entertainment industry to directly engage the movie goer. In addition, theaters can utilise the technology to improve the in-theater experience with partners such as Screenvision able to extend the captive audience engagement beyond the big screen and towards retail.

We are breaking new ground and creating a new and effective way for movie studios and entertainment companies to reach their biggest fans on a national level via mobile. This offering delivers a highly targeted audience for the industry. The 2,284 theaters in our footprint should represent as much as 80% of the total US box office of $11bn. Reaching this audience creates the potential for significant incremental revenue for us.”

Mobiquity Networks already runs a national beacon network across retail malls and theaters. It provides a 3rd party app publisher network to deliver campaigns and offers the tools to manage campaigns and insights.
With over 2,300 US theaters within a 10-mile radius of Mobiquity Networks’ beacon-enabled malls, the company plans to deploy beacons across 300 theaters and 2,500 screens shortly. It says that coverage will extend to over 130 markets to represent 89% of US households. According to research, mall shoppers are five times as likely to be active movie-goers than non-mall shoppers.
