Wildcard is a deep-linking solution for mobile applications, increasing the ease with which users access apps that they have not downloaded to their phone. By extracting “snippets” of code from your application and creating a “card”, this allows users to see content within your app without needing to link to your web-app or download your mobile application. Wildcard’s cards can be displayed on card-viewing platforms like Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr, as well as its own WildCard app, which is only available in the US App Store for now. With extensive support for its implementation via Ruby, it also offers differing extraction rules depending on content.
- Four main types of card: article, product, review and video
- Different extraction rules create cards specific to the content and objective of the page
- Only one line of code required if Twitter Cards or Open Graph are enabled
