IBM opens new spaces dedicated to mobile app development in Shanghai and Bucharest

IBM continues to deepen its relationship with Apple, and its interest in mobile app creation, with the announcement it will open new Garages — spaces where enterprise customers can create and deliver iOS mobile apps — in new cities.

The company has also said IBM Watson’s talents can be more deeply integrated into IBM designed mobile apps, to, “deliver experiences that learn and adapt, and drive better, faster decision-making.

Bridget van Kralingen, IBM Industry Platforms SVP, said:

“Four years ago, we made enterprise mobility a reality, and we’ve seen how transformative mobile can be. Today, companies are now reigning in mobile faster than ever, creating a critical need for powerful innovations that will reinvent how they do business. We’re combining the power of mobile with cognitive and analytics to continue to push the market forward.”

The new Garages will open in Shanghai and Bucharest, and will be, “dedicated to the creation and delivery of apps across mobile platforms.” They will join other Garages in Cupertino, Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, and Bangalore.
