Hotel group Hilton has partnered with location app Foursquare to launch a new feature in the Hilton Honors mobile app called Explore. It will help guests discover local places to visit, which have been selected by Hilton team members who live in the area.

In a press release, the company says:

“Powered by location technology company, Foursquare, Hilton’s new Explore feature will bring together industry-leading at-your-fingertips technology and localized recommendations rooted in the personal experiences of local employees.”

The Hilton Honors app will uses Foursquare’s Places API as the source of its information, which includes ratings, real-time information, photos, and basic information like opening times. Users will be able to check out local restaurants, night life, shopping, and activities through the updated app.

Foursquare’s Peter Krasniqi, vice president of enterprise and business development, said:

“Foursquare’s location technology—built over nearly 10 years and proven to be the leading choice for layering context and location into digital experiences—is now allowing Hilton Team Members to better serve their guests by connecting them with our constantly refreshed database of more than 105 million places worldwide. Foursquare is an industry leader but most importantly, a trusted thought partner to the many companies that leverage our tech.”

The feature will launch on September 12 and be available in 28 different global markets and almost 1,000 Hilton branded hotels. The company intends to launch Explore in more locations in the future.
