Google home services ads have been showing up across mobile phones in the US this week. The format caters specifically for handymen, locksmiths, plumbers and HVAC services. The initial trial for the new GHS ads ran last month.
Google officially rolls out home services ads
For its mobile format, ads can be swiped across the screen in a carousel format. A service provider’s area map is included in the listing.
Google says that the home service ad acts much like badge of trust. It will only feature providers who are qualified and consumers can instantly access reviews. Indeed, the search giant just updated its ‘guaranteed’ tags for these ads. That means consumer know a service provider is fully licensed and insured. Any jobs done are under a money back guarantee. The Home Services Ads programme requires background checking and verification.
The format is pretty straight forward. Service providers simply enter details about their business and include a profile photo. They can then download the AdWords Express mobile app to receive leads and see service requests and communicate with customers.

For now, the ads are only available in San Francisco, but should roll out worldwide if proven successful.
