glispa, the mobile marketing company, has just snapped up MOBILS, the Brazilian mobile marketer, to make a move into the Latin American market. Berlin-based, glispa plans to expand its global presence within Brazil’s mobile commerce market, which is predicted to reach $3.75bn in mobile ad expenditure by 2019.
Some of MOBILS top clients include Webmotors, Netshoes, and iFood as well as agency and brand partnerships with Samsung, McDonalds, GM and Coca Cola Mexico. The company provides mobile ad solutions for publishers, apps and ad networks. Its AD, APP and INAPP products aim to increase user downloads and engagement, drive traffic and user retention.

glispa has previously turned to the Latin American market. In 2008, it set up business in the country and established a network with publishers and clients including OLX, PSafe, Buscape and Dafiti.

As the number of Latin American mobile users are expected to reach over 374m by next year, the company, which currently reaches a billion smartphone users worldwide, wants to be well positioned to continue its growth in Brazil, but also Mexico. In addition, the market is strong when it comes to mCommerce with 54% of Latin American smartphone users purchasing products and services through their devices.

glispa adds that it has plans to roll out its native ad monetisation, user acquisition and app ranking solutions in other emerging markets including Russia, India, China as well as Singapore shortly.
Gary Lin, Chief Executive Officer, glispa, says:

“With deep roots in Sao Paulo, glispa has been conducting business in Brazil for almost a decade. We recognized early on that the Latin American market presented immense online marketing opportunities and now with mobile burgeoning, we’re well positioned to capitalize on this trend. MOBILS has a very accomplished team and an impressive network of clients and application developers whom we look forward to serving as we continue our LATAM expansion.”

The takeover has been in the making quite some time. Earlier this year, glispa and MOBILS entered a strategic partnership whereby glispa provided tracking technology and operational support for MOBILS’ mobile ad initiatives. A few months later, their synergies have sparked a long-term partnership.
Paulo Maia, CEO of MOBILS, adds:
