Mobile backend-as-a-service platform AnyPresence has generated $6 million in a series B round of funding, which includes a strategic investment from software multinational Citrix.
The funding announcement is just the latest in a slew of activity around MBaaS platforms. We’ve recently seen Kinvey raise $10.8 million in a funding round, while FeedHenry got snapped-up by Red Hat for around $82 million last week. Then we’ve had a number of new MBaaS product launches specifically around enterprise, with built.io releasing their enterprise on-premise service, just after Kinvey rolled-out a similar product.
In another sign that the middleware market is converging, AnyPresence says the raised funds will be used to expand into areas such as API management and user interface development. AnyPresence will also use the money to grow its engineering team and expand its sales and marketing departments.
“We are excited to have new investors to help accelerate our growth and leadership in the mobile app development platform market. This funding round will also be used to expand our capabilities based on requirements from customers and partners, such as API management and support for emerging devices driven by the Internet of Things movement.”
Commenting on the company’s investment, Citrix mobile GM Brian Dye added:
“Reducing the friction of building and integrating apps is key to unlocking mobile innovation. We believe AnyPresence has delivered a leading MBaaS platform that helps companies channel this innovation to rapidly mobilize their business, and are investing to support their continued growth.”
Other investors who took part in the funding round include CNF Investments, Kinentic Ventures and Grotech Ventures. For more information take a look at the AnyPresence website.
