Google has created an iMessage extension for Google Search, enabling iOS users to search directly from the keyboard, and add results into conversations. Google already has a dedicated GBoard keyboard app for iOS, but since the introduction of the updated iMessage system and a dedicated extension store, popularity of third-party keyboards may have declined.

The extension allows basic web searches including finding GIFs, plus quick access to finding local places to explore or eat, weather reports, or to find trending news stories. Searches performed through the extension will also pull up related topics.

Currently only available in the United States, the extension comes as part of the Google Search app, so if this is already installed on your phone, the extension will be ready to use inside iMessage.
