Airbnb has led a $13 million Series A financing in restaurant reservation app Resy, with participation from First Data Corporation, RSE Ventures and Lerer Hippeau Ventures.

Resy was founded out of New York in 2014 and is now operating in more than 50 cities around the US. The hospitality tech company now seats almost 1.5 million diners every month and works with nearly 1,000 restaurants.

The investment closely follows the formation of a commercial partnership between the two companies, which was announced as part of Airbnb’s launch of “Trips” in November 2016. The partnership allows Airbnb users to book local restaurants directly through the Airbnb app.

Resy CEO Ben Leventhal said:

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Airbnb to enable their guests to make reservations at the best local restaurants.

“Resy and Airbnb share a vision for how people experience local venues. We’re committed to building a product that allows anyone, anywhere, anytime to live like a local.”

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky commented:

“Many of our most-treasured travel memories come from experiencing the local food. Helping people find and book incredible local restaurants is a key part of us moving beyond just accommodation to focus on the whole trip. We can’t think of a better partner than Resy to help make this possible.”
