London-based 5app has announced the roll-out of a new app creation tool called Build Service, aimed at mid-tier enterprises.

5app already offers enterprises the ability to create their own curated app stores for employees, in order to implement BYOD policies with a decent level of security.  With its newly launched app builder tool, which has been in beta for a few months already, companies can now add their own custom-built applications to these private app stores.

Judging from the press release. it seems 5app’s builder is essentially a native iOS and Android wrapper for apps created in HTML5. The company says its new service “simplifies deployment” by allowing companies to test and publish within the 5app enterprise app store.

5app CEO Stuart Mason said:

“5app is investing over £3 million in the development of online software tools, such as our Build Service, to fill a growing gap in the market for simple, quick-to-deploy mobile app management (MAM) solutions targeted at mid-tier enterprises. It’s all about reducing risk, cost and complexity, allowing companies to use existing resources and skills to build, manage and deploy apps securely to employees.”

We’ve seen quite a few BYOD platforms offering app builders recently. The market for such enterprise-focused solutions is forecast to grow significantly over the next few years (5app secured $5.1m in a funding round back in July), so expect more similar announcements in the near future.

5app says it’s also going to add more tools over the coming months, including an enterprise app analytics platform. Check out the website for more information.
